HALLIE COOPER-NOVACK is a writer and director based in LA. When she was a  contestant on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, host Terry Crews declared, “She’s really playing the game,” so she tries to carry that same energy into everything she does.
Her short Relations starring Kate Lyn Sheil and Hunter Parrish has shown at the Ashland International Film Festival, the Maryland Film Festival, and the St. Louis International Film Festival, among many others, and made its online premiere on NoBudge.com.
The music video she directed for MGMT’s When You Die starring Alex Karpovsky premiered on The New Yorker site and has racked up nearly 30 million views on YouTube.
Hallie’s background is in acting, and she received an MFA from the Yale School of Drama, where she trained with some of the most acclaimed actors of her generation. She appeared on shows like The Good Wife and Law and Order SVU before committing to a life on the other side of the camera.
After a stint in development at Imagine Entertainment Television, she spent several years working for Jason Katims, the award-winning writer/producer known for Friday Night Lights and Parenthood,  most recently in the writers' room for a Disney+ show.
Hallie is also a teacher, and will lead a class at The Deb Aquila Studio this winter.  She is a co-founder and producer of CURRENTS, an ongoing series of staged readings of original one-act plays at The Elysian Theater.
A child of divorce, she grew up spending half the week in Brooklyn and half the week in Downtown Manhattan. Her writing-- largely thrillers and dramas-- tends to focus on complex protagonists who defy cultural stereotypes in a not-so-heroic way.
