HALLIE COOPER-NOVACK is an LA-based writer, director, and former Who Wants to Be a Millionaire contestant born and raised in New York City. Her shorts have shown at the Ashland International Film Festival, the Maryland Film Festival, and the St. Louis International Film Festival among many others, and her music video for MGMT’s When You Die premiered on The New Yorker and has over 33 million views. Hallie’s background is in acting— she received an MFA from the Yale School of Drama, training alongside some of the world’s most acclaimed actors. Before transitioning to a career behind the camera, she appeared in shows like The Good Wife and Law & Order SVU. After a stint in TV development at Imagine Entertainment, she worked under Jason Katims, the acclaimed writer/producer, most recently in a Disney+ writers' room. Hallie is also a co-founder and producer of CURRENTS, an ongoing series of original one-act plays at The Elysian Theater. Her writing centers on complex protagonists who defy stereotypes in a not-so-heroic way.
